About Shiley Eye Institute
The Shiley Eye Institute on UC San Diego Health's La Jolla campus combines all ophthalmology-related services, clinical care of patients with eye disorders, leading-edge research on treatments of eye diseases, education programs, and technology under one roof.
It is a full-service facility offering everything from basic eye exams to the most advanced diagnostic tests and sophisticated surgery from world-renowned physicians and staff. You can also purchase contact lenses and eyeglasses.
It includes:
- An outpatient surgical center with four state-of-the-art operating rooms
- Hamilton Glaucoma Center, which offers comprehensive diagnostic services and specialized glaucoma treatment
- Jacobs Retina Center, which conducts research in retina disorders
- Ratner Children's Eye Center with child-friendly exam rooms and an atmosphere designed to offer a more pleasant experience for young patients
- UCSD Shiley EyeMobile for Children for underserved young kids and their families
- Shiley Eye Institute Optical Shop offers a versatile selection of eyeglasses, sunglasses, and prescription sunglasses.

Ongoing construction for new projects on the La Jolla medical campus can affect travel time. We appreciate your patience and encourage you to arrive early for your appointment:
- Early October: Please follow detour signs on Genesee Avenue and Regents Road to avoid possible traffic delays at the Campus Point Drive/Medical Center Drive intersection.
- Self-parking locations: You can park in lot P760 or the Athena parking structure.
Drop-off/Pickup Changes for Eye Surgery Patients:
- Drop-off: First floor of the Athena parking structure
- Pickup: Curbside area on Medical Center Drive, south of the Shiley building
